The Austrian company Purismo has launched a folding bike. The so-called Foldable Carbon E-Bike weighs 13 kilograms and can be folded to a pack size of 85 x 80 x 40 centimetres. If the saddle is also removed, this size is reduced to 80 x 60 x 40 centimetres. With these dimensions, it is in the midfield compared to the bikes from the previous test (YACHT 25/2014).

The electric motor is located in the rear wheel hub and provides a maximum of 500 watts of pedalling assistance. According to the manufacturer, speeds of up to 27 kilometres per hour can be reached quickly. One charge of the 36-volt battery with a capacity of 6.8 ampere hours should last for 40 kilometres. Big Apple balloon tyres from Schwalbe should provide the necessary shock absorption.

The Purismo Foldable Carbon e-bike is now available. However, those interested will have to wait two to three months. Perhaps enough time to put aside the necessary change: The price is 6300 euros.
